Two hundred and eighty-two villagers from Narata Village, Saoni AOG, Qawali Settlement and Rukruku District School in Sigatoka will benefit from the opening of boreholes.
Opening the boreholes yesterday, Permanent Secretary for Lands Malakai Finau said this will improve the lives of the villagers.
Finau says this is a significant moment for these Fijians who once relied on unclean water sources.
He adds 50 boreholes are currently being drilled along the Sigatoka Valley, mainly for agriculture and water supply purposes.
The project cost $69,500.
