Meanwhile all schools will go on a one week break from tomorrow.

Education Minister Dr Mahendra Reddy says this will allow parents and students to prepare for school after Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston damaged many schools and homes.

Dr. Reddy initial reports confirm some schools have been completely wiped out.

“Pretty bad news in some areas particularly in the Lomaiviti Group and as well as Rakiraki too and in Labasa, Bua area quiet a few school quarters have been blown off – so the situation seems not very good for the schools in Fiji.”

The Ministry says their immediate focus is to provide relief to those families who are taking shelter in schools so that classes can resume from next Monday.
