Two ladder trucks worth one million dollars each have been handed over to the National Fire Authority today by Minister for Local Government Praveen Bala.

The two trucks were bought from the United Kingdom through government and NFA funding.

Outgoing NFA chief executive John O’Connor says the new ladder trucks are for high rise buildings and can reach up to 35 meters high.

The old trucks used by the National Fire Authority had a limit of 22 meters.

O’Connor adds the two new trucks will be based in Suva and Lautoka fire stations respectively.

Two big fire tankers are also likely to be bought in 2016 to support fire-fighting.
