Two men convicted of cultivating more than one thousand kilograms of marijuana in Kadavu valued at twenty-million dollars will be sentenced today.

Amani Masikerei and Samuela Natokalau are facing one count each of unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs.

Masikerei was convicted of one count of unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs following a trial while his co-accused 23-year-old Samuela Natokalau had pleaded guilty to his charges.

The two men cultivated 1,440 marijuana plants – equivalent to 1, 046.8 kilograms in Kadavu last year.

The sentence was to be delivered on Friday however the High court Judge said that it was not ready and deferred it to today.
