February 1, 2016 6:25 pm

A three-day trial for Benjamin Padarath will begin today in the Suva Magistrates Court.

Padarath is charged by the Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption with one count of giving false information to a public servant.

It is alleged that on the 23rd January, 2011, Padarath gave false information via text messages to the Director of Immigration, Nemani Vuniwaqa, intending to cause the Director of Immigration to put the name of one Paul Freeman on the Fiji Immigration watch list.

Defence Counsel Filimoni Vosarogo is expected to receive the summary of facts from FICAC Counsel, Rashmi Aslam.

One of the witnesses is Nemani Vuniwaqa, the Director of Immigration.
