The trial for two men facing drug related charges started before the Suva High Court yesterday.

25-year-old, Amani Masikerei and 23-year-old Samuela Natokalau are charged with a count each of unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs.

The duo had pleaded not guilty to the charge earlier this year.

The two men are alleged to have cultivated 1,440 plants – equivalent to 1046.8 kilograms of marijuana in Kadavu.

The cultivation of marijuana in Kadavu was made known to the Police in January this year.

The two will appear before High Court judge Justice Daniel Goundar today.
