Tengy product to meet cement demand

The Tengy Cement Company Limited will start supplying cement to the local market from Monday.

Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum met with the Pacific Cement Limited, Tengy Cement Company and other stakeholders yesterday to find a solution for the current cement shortage issue.

Tengy Cement Company, chief executive Hong Yang Li, confirms cement production will begin tomorrow.

“So now Pacific Cement yesterday they already agreed to sell their clinker to us.so this morning I already meeting with the Pacific Cement CEO…so from tomorrow we will start bringing the clinker from them and from tomorrow we will start 24 hour operation.”

The local market was hit with supply shortages after the largest cement producing factory, Pacific Cement Limited stopped production due to breakdown at its factory because of old age.

Now the company will sell its clinker, the raw material used to produce cement to Tengy at one hundred and forty-seven dollars per tonne.

Tengy Cement has ordered twenty-four thousand tonnes clinker which is expected to arrive by the end of this month. In the meantime the company will produce around fourteen thousand four hundred tonnes of cement monthly.
