Tropical Cyclone Winston has moved away from Fiji and no longer poses a direct threat to Fiji.

Nadi Weather Office Director Ravin Kumar says there will be some periods of rain for the time being.

“As from last night you are aware that Tropical Cyclone Winston made a landfall to the northeast coast of Viti Levu (Rakiraki) and it quickly passed through the northern parts of Viti Levu and by 11pm it was very close to Viwa Island. As of this morning it is further moving away from Fiji and it is to the West of Viwa Island. The associated cloud and rain is still affects the group and from time to time this rain will still continue and we also expect some isolated heavy falls to be still upon us.
