All Fiji Revenue and Customs Service officers must see taxpayers as clients.

During the 2019-2020 National Budget Consultation in Lautoka, Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says FRCS needs to have a good relationship with all tax payers.

“Some people in the FRCS don’t see tax payers as their clients, they come with the big stick. We want them to see them as their clients. We want them to have good relationship with them. We don’t want them to talk to them rudely.”

Sayed-Khaiyum says they have informed the FRCS CEO to constantly look at the way they do business.

“We want them to see them as partners. That’s the attitude change we need, of course the same time we need to tighten compliance because there are some people who still don’t pay tax, there’s still a black economy. They need to pay taxes.

He says if everyone pays taxes, then there will be money for more development with everyone benefiting from it.
