The Fiji Taxi Association and the Fiji Bus Operators Association has welcomed the recommendation made by the Minister for Justice and Anti- Corruption Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum to make changes to the Land Transport Authority Board.

Fiji Taxi Association General Secretary – Rishi Ram says it’s high time this recommendation has come in.

“We have been the victim of the saga for long time. Our member’s rights were not heard. So we heart fully thank the Minister for taking this incentive on board.”

The Fiji Bus Operators Association has shared the same views and Association President Parmod Chand says a full statement will be issued after studying the copy of the LTA report prepared by the Anti-Corruption Ministry.

Several complaints were made by the members of the public to the offices of the Prime Minister and Attorney General against some LTA Board members.

Most of these complaints were regarding Board members who frequently sent their nominees for meetings who then voted on their behalf without having prior experience or background knowledge on matters being voted on.
