Mariners are advised to take heed of weather warnings and to plan their trip well with sufficient fuel.

The advice comes after three seafarers were rescued by the RFNS Kikau in the early hours of this morning.

They were on their way to Kadavu from Suva and ran out of fuel and drifted towards the reefs at Beqa.

The Police Command Centre received a distress call before the information was passed on to Fiji Navy.

RFNS Kikau was managed to find the distressed sailors at 1am.
