Students join World Consumer Rights Day celebration

Students from various schools in Suva together with the Consumer Council celebrated World Consumer Rights Day today.

With the theme of ‘Trusted Smart Products’ Consumer Council Chief Executive, Seema Shandil says to mark the occasion, they held an oratory contest for Secondary Schools in Suva on the topic “How safe is your information with your smart products”.

She says it’s vital that students are part of the celebration.

“What we thought was to involve high school students, because a survey shows that 70% of our youths, between 17-25 years old are always online, so they are very vulnerable.”

Shandil says moving forward, this can feed into their policy-making decisions when they work with the government.
