An army officer who allegedly assaulted an on duty police officer has been taken into custody.

The man has been charged with one count each of assault, careless driving and criminal intimidation.

It’s alleged the soldier was driving his vehicle along Grantham Road in Suva on Monday when he was stopped by the officer.

It’s alleged the policeman was hassled by the accused at the Nabua Police Station, when taken in for questioning.

The solider is expected to appear in court tomorrow.
