All schools that were used as evacuation centers during Tropical Cyclone Mona have been cleaned and are ready for another new school year.

The National Disaster Management Office says emergency operators, evacuees and nearby communities assisted in the clean-up of the schools.

Director, Anare Leweniqila says this was instructed by Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama as it was on the priority list.

“It’s the guidance from the PM to ensure that schools are cleaned before we return the schools to the school committees and the management. To ensure that schools are ready for next week.”

Meanwhile, the NDMO reveals that TC Mona did not cause any major impact in any of the four divisions.

All emergency operators have been stood down and all evacuation centers have been deactivated.
