Minister for Waterways, Mahendra Reddy, is demanding more action from various Municipalities in solving drainage issues.
In their first meeting today, Reddy has highlighted the need of a more active approach from each town council.
With government allocating 1.3 million dollars for the new Ministry, Reddy says funds will go towards solving all drainage issues in towns and cities.
“The Municipal councils should utilise the grants efficiently and effectively as soon as possible and must take actions to improve this issue as required by the government, so we want to make the maximum us of this money.”
More than eleven municipalities will benefit from the grant and Reddy says transparency must prevail in using the grant.
