Police dogs catch Nadi robbers

Quick action by the Police Dog Unit in Nadi saw four men armed with iron rods arrested after they allegedly robbed the home of a Nadi businessman yesterday morning.

Police spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri says jewellery and assorted items valued at $5,000 were stolen.

The incident happened at 4am when the family was asleep.

The wife of the business man woke up to go to the toilet when she found one of the men inside the house with mask.

She alerted the family and later identified the number plate of the getaway car.

Police than sought the assistance of the trained dogs.

The car was also abandoned.

Police have yet to charge the men and the stoles items have yet to be recovered.
