People on Rotuma urged to look after their health

In every six seconds on planet earth, someone dies of NCD related diseases.

This was highlighted by President Major General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote to the people of Rotuma during his visit.

As the Chief Advocate in the fight against Non-Communicable Diseases, he reveals that Fiji is now a top rank country in the world for diabetes and this is not something to be proud of.

President Konrote says it is already costing Fiji a total of $406m annually to treat NCD related ailments.

People on the island were urged to look after their health.

President Konrote also took time to visit the Fisheries office, Rotuma farm roads and the water pump on the island.

The people on the island were also urged to join the Government in its ambition to plant 4 million trees in 4 years and fight against non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
