Pacific leaders meet

The 3rd Engaging with the Pacific leaders meeting starts at the Westin, Denarau this morning.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama will officially open the meeting at 9.45am.

Presidents, Prime Ministers and Ministers of Pacific Island countries including Tonga, French Polynesia, Solomon Islands, Marshall Islands, Vanuatu, PNG, Kiribati, Nauru and Tuvalu are part of today’s meeting.

Fiji’s Foreign Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola has highlighted that crucial issues of interest to the region will be discussed.

He says Fiji plays a key role in facilitating trade and development within the region – so it’s an ideal opportunity for leaders from the region to look at these issues.

The theme for the meeting is – “Strengthening Partnerships amongst Pacific Islands Developing States."

The meeting ends tomorrow.
