Over $5M support to roll out MSBG second phase

A total of $5.9million dollars was given to the government by the Indian government to support the second phase of the Micro Small Business Grant initiative.

While signing the Memorandum of Understanding today between the two countries, Indian High Commissioner to Fiji, Vishvas Sapkal says with the successful completion of the first phase, they have the confident that the roll out of the second phase will help support the initiative that the government has made.

“We are really happy that the first phase, when we sign the MOU in June 2016, that was successfully completed and we have just noted as conveyed by the honorable minister that 4,752 beneficiaries received this grant from the Indian assistance. After the signing of this MOU, $5.9m will be distributed for Small & Medium scale entrepreneurs.”

Sapkal says they will continue to help raise the standards of living for ordinary Fijians.

He adds that the second phase will be able to support the livelihoods of at least 5,900 people.
