Opposition MP Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu claims the 2019/2020 National budget lacks vision and smart strategies.

In Parliament, Lalabalavu commended the Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete under whose leadership – health workers have been able to secure salary increment in the latest budget.

However, he adds salary increment is not the only medium to improve performance and output for medical personnel.

“The GP scheme is well received with the general practitioners as the expertise under this scheme will contribute immensely for extra help in rural health care facilities. I believe this scheme will help relieve the massive load of hour work of medical officers and a cost saving to the government.”

Despite, commending the general practitioners’ scheme – Lalabalavu says only a few are benefitting.

He adds there is a lack of funding for public health awareness.
