One hundred and twenty people on the island of Ogea in the Southern Lau group have prepared for Cyclone Winston.
School teacher Tevita Ledua says they have told fishermen, not to go out to sea and advised the students of Matuatabu Primary school to stay indoors.
“Villagers have secured their houses to withstand the cyclone, prepare food, kerosene, batteries and for some have relocated as they prepare for the cyclone tonight or tomorrow morning.”
The cyclone is expected to be located about 135 kilometres South of Ono-I-Lau or about 450 kilometres southeast of Kadavu by 9pm.
