31 officers from various Government Ministries and Departments graduated from the ODPP basic prosecution course.

Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Mosese Korovou says the course emphasized the need for prosecutors to understand their own respective legislation – since they are given the power to prosecute matters.

The ODPP continues to assist Government Ministries and Departments through basic and advanced prosecution courses annually.

This is an effort which aims to equip prosecutors with basic trial preparation skills in prosecuting matters under their respective legislation.

The ODPP also provides desk officers and legal advice on possible charges and how to go about bringing a prosecution.

The graduating officers will now be eligible to participate in the advanced prosecution course for statutory regulators in October.
