October 25, 2017 5:12 am

The Nausori Town Council suffered a major blow in terms of their revenue last year after Cyclone Winston as their market occupancy went down by fifty percent.

Finance Manager Swastika Rattan highlighted this during the Council’s Submission on the 2014 Auditor-General’s Report on Municipal Councils and Performance.

According to the Auditor General’s report there was a deficit of $77,536 in 2011 and questions were raised on whether there has been any improvement.

The Finance Manager highlighted there were improvements however their operations were affected after cyclone Winston.

“From one hundred percent in first four months it went to fifty percent, now it is slowly picking up so we had some creditors for 2016 which we had to pay in 2017 so that’s why we had some cash issue but we still managing fine.”

The Council is also doing repayments for loan to build a new Nausori market.

The new Nausori market is a ten million dollars project.
