The National Security Strategy is expected to be tabled in parliament early next year.

Consultations on the document were to be completed last month but a government team leading the review needs more time.

Chairman of the National Security Strategy Committee Esala Teleni says that it is vital for people to be well informed with the strategy.

“For the key stakeholders and for the review team to have better understanding of the National Security Strategy paper and also with the defence white paper, because they are totaly different and that’s what we want to make sure that everyone is aware off.”

The final consultations of the National Security Strategy will be held next month.

Teleni says it is expected to maintain stability, peace and progress in the country and to take to the people and get their suggestions on what the best strategies Fiji would need to adopt.
