More women to get 'Fijian Made' license

66 more women will get the Fijian made license at this years national womens expo.

The license will enable then to operate and help access local and international markets to sell their products.

Ministry of Economy – Director Sekove Tamanotoakula says fifty-two women artisans who operate under the Fijian Made logo will also get their licenses renewed.

Tamanotoakula says after issuing 66 licenses this year, the total number of female artisans under the Ministry’s scheme will increase to 304.

“There is emphasis on quality and we have used Fiji Arts Council for their expertise to determine who qualifies to use this particular emblem which is the Fiji crafted.”

He says Fijian made crafts is also very important to the tourism sector as visitors purchase souvenirs which promotes the Fiji made brand.

He says women make up 40 percent of artists who craft Fijian made products.
