More rain expected in the weekend

The wet and windy weather is expected to continue until the weekend.

The Fiji Meteorological Office reiterates that a heavy rain warning remains in force for the Eastern half and interior of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Lau and Lomaiviti group.

In addition, a flood warning remains in force for low lying areas and areas adjacent to Naqali river as of 9 this morning and it was 2 meters above warning level.

This has been attributed to a trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain which is slow moving over the Eastern parts of Fiji.

On the forecast, periods of rain, heavy at times and a few thunderstorms particularly for the eastern half and interior of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Lau and Lomaiviti Group,

For the rest of the Fiji Group, expect cloudy periods with some showers especially from this afternoon and tonight.

Localized heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas, so take the necessary precautions.
