Ministry of Forest plans to develop bamboo industry

The Ministry of Fisheries and Forest plans to develop Fiji’s bamboo industry.

Delegates from the International Centre for Economic Technical Exchange are here for a series of meeting on how to lift help a number of agricultural and aqua-cultural practices.

Deputy Conservator of Forests Semi Draunibaka this particular group will focus on value adding to bamboos.

“In forestry, mostly they are looking at how they can be able to assist in developing our bamboo industry. Those are the areas they are looking at in this visit and after the visit, we will be able to develop different projects in the field of fisheries and forest and also energy later on in the afternoon where they would be able to assist us”

The delegation has offered assistance in training a community in Naitasiri to develop bamboo products.

Under the South South Cooperation agreement China has offered capacity training, technical expertise and consultancy on a range of fisheries and forestry opportunities.
