Man gets non-custodial sentence for assault

A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to 3 months, suspended for 2-years for one count of ‘assault causing actual bodily harm.

The Lautoka High Court heard that Etnia Bose was asked by someone who was having an argument with the victim, to go and assault the victim.

Due to the impact of the punch, the victim fell on the ground.

Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe in sentencing Bose considered his early guilty plea and said a non-custodial sentence would provide him an opportunity to rehabilitate himself into a law abiding citizen.
