A sixty-five-year-old man has been sentenced to eleven years imprisonment for raping his grandson.

The Court heard the father of five committed the offence in December last year.

Judge Justice Riyaz Hamza, while sentencing the man said there was a large disparity in age between him and the complainant.

The Judge said the complainant was only six-years of age and the man took advantage of his vulnerability, helplessness and naivety.

He says the man exposed the innocent mind of a child to sexual activity at such a tender age.

The man is eligible for parole after serving nine years imprisonment
