Man cops suspended sentence for unlawful wounding

The Suva High Court has sentenced a man to five months imprisonment suspended for three years for unlawful wounding.

The Court heard the 30-year-old wounded his wife by throwing a glass at her head.

Last December, the accused and his wife were drinking with their friends when the incident has occurred.

The man pleaded guilty.

The Judge took into consideration that a custodial sentence would be a harsh penalty for the crime.

The court has issued a permanent domestic violence restraining order with standard non-molestation conditions.

This is issued for the well-being and safety of the victim.
