The Land Transport Authority will continue the vehicle weight restriction at the Tamavua I Wai Bridge.

LTA confirms the vehicle weight limit passing the bridge remains at 32 tonnes and an axle weight limit of 16 tonnes.

LTA Board Chairperson Vijay Maharaj says they will ensure that vehicles passing the Tamavua I Wai Bridge must not carry excess loads as these can have severe impacts on the bridge elements.

He says overloading may result in extensive repair works to the bridge in the future.

The LTA is working closely with the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) on the issue of overloading.
