The Health Ministry has denied allegations by a patient at Lakeba Hospital in Lau that he was forced by authorities to find his way to Suva for treatment.

Komo villager Maraiwai Vakatalai claims he was ill treated at the hospital.

Health Ministry’s Deputy Secretary Dr Mecuisela Tuicakau says they’ve received a report from the doctor in charge and none of Vakatalai’s claims are true.

He says an emergency meeting was called at the hospital, and an investigation couldn’t find any evidence of his claims.
