40 inmates from the Natabua Correction Centre in Lautoka left for the Jet Set Town of Nadi this morning to assist in the cleaning of the town.
Centre spokesperson Semesa Bogitini says in the past, the Nadi Town Council has always assisted the Natabua Corrections Centre and this is their chance to return the gesture.
“This is something to give back to the community from the inmates point of view and from the Corrections Services side to help rebuild the lives of people who have been affected by the recent floods.”
Meanwhile Nadi Special Administrator Aisea Tuidraki says the RFMF, Police, the NFA and the Natabua Correction Centre together with shop owners have started cleaning the main street, the market and the bus and Taxi stands.
Tuidraki says Bainimarama wants the town opened as soon as possible and with all hands on deck today, the council hopes to have the town opened for business tomorrow at the latest.
