October 16, 2019 4:45 pm

Staff at the Fiji Immigration Department are trying to adapt to the new Biometrics system and that is one reason service is being delayed.

This was highlighted by the Director of Immigration Nemani Vuniwaqa in an exclusive interview with FBC News.

The Department has over 13,000 pending applications while new ones continued to be received.

Vuniwaqa says the team at the department are working overtime in their bid to resume service to normal.

“We also feel for the people, the team is working overtime at the department, we have exhausted all avenues in order to ensure we cover everything, but like I said we have to deal with all these newer things that are coming up. The officers are adjusting to the new system and we are getting better every day”.

Vuniwaqa says they have extended their opening hours to Saturday as more people are turning up for passport clarification.
