Hunt on for man who allegedly raped mother-in-law

Police are looking for a man in his 30s who is alleged to have raped his 80-year-old mother-in-law.

The alleged incident occurred last week and the matter was reported by the victim at the Nausori Police Station on Tuesday.

It is alleged the incident happened inside the victim’s home last Friday when the two were alone.

Since the alleged incident, the suspect has been missing and investigators are pursuing information on his whereabouts.

In another alleged rape case, a 14-year-old was questioned and released for allegedly raping an eight-year-old boy in January.

The matter was reported at the Labasa Police Station.

The investigation file will be forwarded to the Divisional Crime Officer who will decide the next course of action based on the findings.

Meanwhile, two cases of defilement are now under investigation.

The first case involves a 14-year-old student who claims the suspect to be a Labasa based bus driver.

The alleged incident which occurred last July is being investigated by Seaqaqa Police.

The second case involves a 16-year-old girl who alleges she was defiled by a 22-year-old bus driver during a drinking party at an apartment complex in Suva.

The alleged incident occurred last Sunday.

Both suspects are yet to be arrested as victims are undergoing medical examinations.
