A 65 year old man has been found guilty of one count of sexual assault and not guilty of one count of sexual assault and rape.

Suva High court Judge Justice Vincent Perera delivered the verdict just moments ago.

The 65 year old man was charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of rape.

It is alleged that he raped and sexually assaulted his granddaughter between January 2012 and December 2014 in Nasinu.

The victim was seven-years-old at the time of the incident and was staying with her grandparents while her parents lived in Lautoka.

The Sentencing submissions will be heard this afternoon.
