Govt to get Cyclone Evan report

December 28, 2012 7:04 pm

A report on Cyclone Evan will be presented to the government early next week to determine the number of families that will continue to get assistance.

Commissioner Western Commander Joeli Cawaki says efforts are now directed towards rehabilitation work.

Cawaki says at this stage the government is still carrying out relief and recovery work trying to get back to normalcy.

“That has to come from the assessment – the number of people that we need to feed, the number of households in that district – so that is the biggest task.”

Cawaki says they are now focusing on restoring agriculture and rebuilding homes.

“We have three big tasks now – the crop rehabilitation, housing rehabilitation and rationing supplies to the affected people.”

Those who are still without shelter can get supplies from district officers… basic items like food and blankets.
