Four new appointments for Chairmanship of Provincial Council

Four changes have been made by the Ministry of Itaukei Affairs for the position of Chairmanship for four provincial councils.

This was confirmed to FBC News by Permanent Secretary I-taukei Affairs Naipote Katonitabua.

Katonitabua says the four changes are the Chairman of the Tailevu Provincial Council, Cakaudrove Provincial Council, Lomaiviti Provincial and the Kadavu Provincial Council.

With names of the four newly appointed chairman expected to be released soon, Katonitabua says the changes are made after a thorough consultation with the I-Taukei Affairs Board and Government.

“There are some leadership qualities which have been taken into consideration in terms of the vision of these high level leaders that have been appointed and also the wisdom that they normally have in the current position that they have, and also dealing with I-taukei communities, so looking at all those strength the Prime Minister have the confidence in them.”

The new appointment is for a three year period effective from January this year to 2020.
