Fijians to remember the sacrifices of our forefathers

Fiji Day is the greatest and most significant day in the history of our nation.

Wishing Fijians a Happy Independence Day, Opposition Leader Sitiveni Rabuka is urging everyone to celebrate the sacrifices of our forefathers, former leaders and unsung heroes.

Rabuka says we celebrate this event once a year and must do so with enthusiasm and hope, to commemorate the sacrifices of those who fought bravely to bring freedom and prosperity to our nation.

He says we must continue to embrace their sacrifices.

The opposition leader adds that we also celebrate the strength and indomitable resilience of our people and as a nation in the face of the many challenges and adversity we have experienced since we became an independent nation.

Meanwhile, the National Federation Party says Fiji Day marks a peaceful transition from 96 years of Colonial rule to Independence on 10th October 1970.

NFP Leader, Biman Prasad says today we all remember the giant strides made by our country’s founding fathers and to hold true to the spirit of unity and understanding of our independence.

Prasad says it’s important that we inculcate a sense of pride and patriotism in our youth and children as well
