Nadi will be declared a city in conjunction with the township’s 70th anniversary next month.

Local Government Minister, Parveen Bala last night initiated a pre-event launch revealing the announcement as the town council prepares for the significant event.

In addition to the city declaration, Bala also announced that Miss Pacific Islands Pageant which will be hosted by Nadi for the first time.

In line with Fiji’s Presidency of COP23, Bala highlighted the importance of local action on climate change, particularly in towns and cities.

The Minister says the theme for Nadi’s upcoming milestones will be “From Town, to Fiji’s Most Liveable Green City.

Bala says the triple celebration will be a grand and memorable occasion.
