Ex-servicemen association hopeful

The Fiji Ex – Servicemen Association remains hopeful that the sale of their Poppy flower through the Poppy Appeal will generate the much-needed income to fund their housing scheme.

Through the scheme….they have completed the construction of a house in Tailevu.

Association president – Ratu Peni Volavola says, the dream of other members owing their own homes can become a reality with the availability of funds.

“The Association has given its submission for the 2013 budget…and remains hopeful that funds allocated for next year will help alleviate the poverty amongst some ex-servicemen.”

The Ex-servicemen association can only pay a certain amount to the housing applicant while government foots the rest.

Other applicants are still waiting for word on their housing needs.
