Dr Reddy resigns from Commerce Commission

July 28, 2014 1:05 am

Dr Mahendra Reddy has resigned as the chair of the Fiji Commerce Commission after he was named as a candidate for the FijiFirst political movement.

Dr Reddy says he’s also taken leave as Dean of the School of Economics at the Fiji National University.

“If I don’t win this election which is quiet unlikely, the probability of which is negligible given the kind of support I have seen. You know the position of the Commerce Commission is not by application, it is by appointment – so whichever the government is in power and if they want my services at that point in time I will think about it. But people have to move on in life. I have always said to my colleagues at FNU that FNU is not the end for me and same applies to Commerce Commission… Commerce Commission is not the end for me.”
