Police Commissioner visits Fijian personnel with UNMISS

Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho and Defense Minister Inia Seruiratu visited Fiji personnel serving with the United Mission in South Sudan.

A contingent of Fiji Police Officers and a few Military Observers are serving under UNMISS.

The visit also provided an opportunity for the Minister and Commissioner to visit UNMISS Police Commissioner Unaisi Vuniwaqa who currently heads the Police component of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan.

The appointment of ACP Una is a milestone achievement for the Fiji Police and this region, being the first female officer to be appointed to such a senior UN position.

Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho earlier highlighted that it is a milestone achievement for the Women in uniform in Fiji and the Pacific region and is a reflection of the capabilities of women officers in our region.

Qiliho also highlighted that the Fiji Police recently received an increase in quota for Individual Police deployment to UNMISS.

The Fiji delegation also held a discussion with the UNSRG based at UNMISS.
