PCN Board, staff front court over Lagilagi Housing Project

Ten board members and staff from People’s Community Network appeared in court today charged in relation to the Lagilagi Housing Project.

PCN National Director Semiti Qalowasa was the only person present in court while the others were presented by their lawyers.

Semiti Qalowasa, Chantelle Khan, Suliana Siwatibau, Samuela Saumatua, Mere Krishna, Vijay Naidu, Reverend Akuila Yabaki, Father Kevin Barr, Cama Raimuria and Aisake Casimira have been charged with corruption-related offences over the housing project.

All ten have been charged with one count each of accepting payments without being able to supply, misleading conduct and unacceptable conduct.

The alleged incident occurred between 28th October 2015 and 19th January 2016.

PCN Director Semiti Qalowasa also faces a separate charge of failing to furnish information to the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission.

The matter was called for plea but this did not eventuate.

The court also heard that Father Barr and Naidu have applied for approval to travel overseas which needs to be considered.

The case will be recalled on October 30th and all accused remain on bail.
