Former Fiji 7s player Amenoni Nasilasila charged with rape has decided to exercise his right of remaining silent as the trial continues into its second day at the Lautoka High Court.

With the Prosecution wrapping up their case this morning, Judge Justice Justice Daniel Goundar gave Nasilasila two options.

The first option was for the 26-year-old to exercise his right to remain silent and call a witness or for him to take the stand and give evidence.

Nasilasila chose to remain silent and to call a witness, former Fiji 7s captain Aisake Katonibau to testify on this behalf.

The 26-year-old is alleged to have raped a 24-year-old woman in Olosara, Sigatoka on December 22nd last year.

The trial continues.
