Court dismisses Raiwalui’s bail application

The Suva High court today dismissed the bail application filed by the 32-year-old man accused of killing New Zealand national Ashkan Farsani.

Rusiate Raiwalui who is charged with one count of murder and a count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs has been in remand since May this year.

He is alleged to have murdered New Zealander Ashkan Farsani on May 8th this year.

It’s alleged on that day he had 100.3 grams cocaine in his possession.

The victim, Ashkan Farsani, was a businessman from Auckland who was dropped off near CWM Hospital suffering stab wounds.

Attempts to revive him were futile.

The car that dropped him off was later found abandoned in Tacirua.

High Court Judge Justice Daniel Goundar said that there were no special circumstances in the application.

The defense has been told to come back with a fresh bail application.

This was Raiwalui’s second bail application.

The matter has now been adjourned to 14th February 2020.
