Waisake Tulavu

Bail has been rejected for 46-year-old pastor charged with four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

Suva High Court Judge Justice Daniel Goundar, says the charges are serious.

It is alleged Waisake Tulavu raped three church members aged 22, 29 and 32 in Nasinu last year.

The defense had filed a bail application on the grounds that the accused is a first offender.

The state objected to the bail saying there is a possibility that the accused will interfere with the victims.

The matter has been adjourned to March 26th for the plea.

The accused is further remanded.
