Alleged Kadavu murderers appear in court

APISAI LOMANI AND LEONE NAISAKE

Two men facing murder charges appeared before the Suva High Court this morning.

Apisai Lomani and Leone Naisake are alleged to have caused the death of Filipe Loloma in Wailialia Farm in Kadavu.

The incident happened on December 26th last year where the two are alleged to have engaged in a reckless conduct of assault, resulting in the victim’s death.

They pleaded not guilty and was released on bail in an earlier sitting.

A bench warrant was issued for Lomani today after failing to appear during his given sitting time in court, however, the accused made an appearance an hour later.

Lomani informed the Judge that he was late because he was waiting outside the courthouse for the second accused.

The Judge pardoned his delay and canceled the bench warrant.

Today, the defense counsel sought seven days to file information.

The case has been adjourned to April 15th for mention.

Meanwhile, Lomani is also charged with a count of unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs.

It’s alleged on December 30th last year in Kadavu, Lomani cultivated 23 plants of marijuana weighing at 10.5kg.
