Police Inspector, Riaz Ali, took the stand today in the Suva High Court as the trial of the Colombian National, Aiden Alec Hurtado continued today.

Hurtado is charged with the transportation of 20.5 kg of illicit drugs worth $6.1 million which was found inside his bag at the Nadi International Airport, last year.

Defence Counsel, Samanunu Vaniqi asked Ali that on the 7th to the 10th of February, last year the accused was separated from his bag. She asked Ali what happened to his bag.

Ali says that Hurtado did not have his bag when he board the flight from Brazil.
Ali also says that when he first spoke to the accused while remanded in custody, they were conversing in English.

In court today, Hurtado was sitting with an interpreter in the accused box.
The case continues this afternoon.
