September 23, 2015 5:57 am

Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili will go ahead with the hearing of a voir dire application tomorrow in the case of businessman Jagath Karunaratne and SODELPA parliamentarian Mosese Bulitavu.

Ratuvili told Karunaratne that the case will proceed tomorrow, even if his lawyer Aman Singh is not available in court.

Singh was representing clients in another sedition case at the Lautoka High Court this morning.

The voir dire application challenges the circumstances in which the caution interview was obtained, when Karunaratne and Bulitavu were questioned.

Police Chief of Investigations and Intelligence, ACP Henry Brown is one of the witnesses in the hearing.

Karunaratne and Bulitavu allegedly spray painted words in different places between Nausori and Suva with the seditious intention of bringing into hatred, or hatred or contempt or to excite disaffection against the government.
